Monolith™ Wall Hood by ABBAKA

Monolith™ Wall Hood

Driven by the minimalist styling of contemporary European kitchen cabinet manufacturers like Poliform, SieMatic, Bulthaup and Poggenpohl, Abbaka created the Monolith Hood design. Minimum formal characteristics define this hood. Absent is the combination of the canopy and stack common to all "chimney" hood designs. Just as ultra-contemporary kitchen cabinetry eliminates the visible door handle or drawer pull, Monolith has no visible lighting or motor controls on its face to interrupt the form. The silk-satin brushed stainless steel hood body has a fully lined interior for enhanced motor noise isolation. Regulated by an infinitely variable solid state motor speed control, the hood’s ventilator can be adjusted to the exact needs of the cook. The halogen lighting system is engineered to take into consideration the beam spread of the lamp adjusting the flood to angle ratio for crisp, clean illumination, without hot spots or stray light, across the entire cooking surface below. The solid state dimmer control allows a full range adjustment from task lighting to soft mood lighting when the hood is not in use. Monolith, the ultimate understatement.
Quantum™ Island Hood by ABBAKA

Quantum™ Island Hood

The ultra contemporary look in glass and stainless steel hoods has continued to appear on the market over the most recent years. Many homeowners want one. Many homeowners also want a professional, restaurant-style range or exotic array of cooking modules. At issue is, though the glass hood look is very appealing, they typically do not have the horsepower (sufficient CFM, cubic foot per minute, ventilation capacity) needed for serious cooking equipment.. But, there is an alternative. ABBAKA offers Quantum™, a sleek, low profile, hi-tech hood design crowned with a ring of tempered glass and with the power to handle the pro range.
Uni-form™ Island Hood by ABBAKA

Uni-form™ Island Hood

The slimmest yet of ABBAKA’s low profile designs for professional cooking equipment, Uni-form’s canopy is a mere 6” tall. Yet in that small space, the hood packs the wallop of 1400 CFM (cubic foot per minute) exhaust capacity via the ultra quiet Hy-Ex Remote or Attic (in-line) ventilator. Ventilator motors are offered in 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400 CFM power options. Motors are regulated by a variable speed control that allows the chef to dial in the exact power needed for the meal being prepared. The hood’s unique adjustable suspension rods stabilize the ceiling attachment as well as allow the expanse of the hood to be leveled.
Abbaka Original Island Hood Polishe by ABBAKA

Abbaka Original Island Hood Polishe

The first, and still the only completely seamless hood. The lower canopy and chimney are joined without a trace, free of the joints, screwed connections break lines or rivets found in hoods of lesser quality. The ABBAKA Original, introduced in 1981, created the market for European-style kitchen range hood. ABBAKA continues to lead the way with the introduction of ever newer designs and unique finishes. One such finish is this island hood in mirror polished stainless steel. Accented with a utensil rail of polished brass, rails are also offered in stainless or copper in either brushed or polished finish.
Arc Form Island Hood Polished Coppe by ABBAKA

Arc Form Island Hood Polished Coppe

Hood canopy and chimney are formed in a continuous curve from four individual sheets of pure copper. Our skilled Abbaka craftsmen then fusion-weld up the length of each corner, grind and lastly polish to join the hood seamlessly without a trace. We build hoods for tall ceilings routinely – 26 feet is the current record.
Arc Form Wall Hood by ABBAKA

Arc Form Wall Hood

Whether in an antebellum country estate or Manhattan penthouse, Arc Form™ adds a graceful curve to an environment defined by straight lines. Only the sure hand of ABBAKA’s master craftsmen can perform the seamless weld joining the hood’s sides as they are tensioned in a bow. Shown in burnished copper this finish is done by our metal artists who apply a special chemical wash to the surface of the hood, hand burnishing and coaxing a stunning mix of deep reds and browns from the pure copper from which the hood is built. A custom pitched and closed chimney top allows the hood to rear vent beneath the structural beam above.
Barrel Form Island Hood Satin Coppe by ABBAKA

Barrel Form Island Hood Satin Coppe

ABBAKA, the leader in high style, ultra high performance kitchen range ventilating hoods has a unique finish pallet that includes Satin Brushed Copper. ABBAKA’s standard mirror polished copper is brushed to a European long-grain finish, presenting a mellow, more rustic look. The hood is then coated with and automotive grade clear matte lacquer which protects the copper from tarnish or finger printing. So go ahead and throw out your copper polish, or save it for the yearly renewal of grandma’s old copper kettle. Recessed end shelves provide convenient storage space for cooking oils and spices.
Classic Wall Hood Antique Bronze by ABBAKA

Classic Wall Hood Antique Bronze

The Classic takes its inspiration from the massive black metal canopies used to vent the old wood burning stoves. Numerous design prototypes were set aside before arriving at the finely radiused profile. Gone are the standing ribs required by the crude fabrication technique of days past. They have been replaced by the ABBAKA fusion weld that seamlessly forms the hood without trace of joints. To accent and emphasize the hood’s gentle contour, bands have been added to the face of the hood. Rivets of brass, copper or steel may be added as decorative elements to the bands or hood body itself. Shown in our antique bronze, the finish has the appearance of “oil-rubbed bronze, a rich, slightly metallic golden brown. Similar in shade to bronze sculpture or statuary, though not as dark or cold, the look is achieved using a special formula of chemicals creating this patina on brass.
Craftwork Wall Mount Hood by ABBAKA

Craftwork Wall Mount Hood

In designing Craftwork, ABBAKA set about to create an alternative to the plaster, mantelpiece or wood hood frequently used in kitchens. The hood consists of individual sections so that metals and finishes can be mixed and matched to further integrate the hood into the overall kitchen design. The hood’s brushed stainless body rests atop a metal corbel (or apron) of polished stainless. A scalloped center plate, projects from the body with its contour matching that of the hood and is built of polished stainless. All hood sections can be produced in combinations of stainless, copper and brass in polished, brushed or antique finish.
Custom Twin Chimney Island Hood by ABBAKA

Custom Twin Chimney Island Hood

Abbaka’s Custom Metal Works division continues to produce complete custom, one-of-a-kind designs. “If you can imagine it, we can build it”, is the service mark for the division. Exotic designs with faceted corners, radiuses, and arched or round shapes, twin hood canopies or double chimney’s are just some of the structural components in these unique designs. They are then combined with our custom ventilation systems to produce a complete solution. This two chimney hood is the brainchild of designer William Landeros, Bulthaup Kitchens of Denver. He had a unique challenge in his kitchen space. A rafter supporting the vaulted ceiling bisected the space where the 48” range was placed. Solution . . . . rather than split the beam (a structural impossibility), split the chimney. Make the two exhausts flank right and left of the rafter. A technical necessity was the mother of an astonishing form from Abbaka’s Custom Metal Works.
