Ten things I love about London – thing three

Columbia Road – Flower Market

No matter whether it rains or rains or even rains, Sunday’s are made for the flower market on Columbia Road. And it is because of London’s famous grey and dreary backdrop that those flowers appear more luminous than anywhere else.

The market is open from 8am “til 3ish” and it is then that you will find this otherwise ordinary road in London’s East End filled to the brim with an ocean of flowers and foliage, above which hover the voices of the Barrow boys announcing that everything is “Three for a fiver!!”

Just down a small side street is arguably one of the best Barrista’s in England, if not anywhere. The queue is long, regardless of the weather as we all wait patiently to get this

Behind the plant pitches there is still much more shopping to do at shops like these:

Or my favourite hat shop anywhere, Fred Bare!

It’s a bit worn around the edges my favourite London, but just like those flowers, that’s what makes all the good things stand out even more.

Thank you very much, I think it’s that contrast between London grey and it’s markets and gardens that gives it the character that I love.
