Oh Amsterdam!
At dinner last night the conversation turned to a visit to Amsterdam about 3 years ago. I found it to be an amazing city with far less emphasis on the dreaded red light district and no, not everyone was smoking a joint, but true to it’s stigma of being a city of tulips, bicycles and very beautiful design.
I went back to the website of the hotel I had stayed at, I remember the whole concept having been rather new when I stayed there. The college hotel had originally been a school building and was lovingly redesigned as a hotel which now doubles as a training facility for hotel management and culinary arts students under the experienced tutelage of world class chefs and hoteliers – mind you. The college received the Prix-Villegiature Paris award for ‘Best Interior Design of a Hotel in Europe’ and it shows.
A must see if you get a chance to go, beware the cyclists, they know no mercy for pedestrians. The college is a few minutes walk from Museum Square and a few more minutes from the most wonderful shops.
