Sometimes people need a little help. And having watched how we shift our body positions depending on how we feel about the person next to us, Craig Foster of dweebdesign took it upon himself to have a little fun and take away the choice.
The awkward couple are perched shyly on the LOVE variation of his LOVE HATE chairs.
I love the shy couple. Will their knees accidently touch? Will they ever make eye contact? Would they be more comfortable in the HATE Chairs? Would anyone? I would love to see these in public places, maybe waiting rooms. Watching to see where people choose to sit would tell you so much.
We met Craig at London’s New Designers Show where he had just carried off the award for New Designer of the Year and chosen as one of the finalists for the 2012 Lighting Association’s Student Lighting Design Awards.
The later accolade is for Kurk ,a flat pack desk light that requires no screws or glues to assemble. Each part of Kurk can be recycled or reused individually when it is no longer needed as a light. As Craig says, “Sustainability is not a USP; it is standard”.
Craig’s work stood out at the show, from which we promise you more over the next couple of days, for his sense of fun expressed through carefully crafted, very usable products. Remember Craig Foster of Dweebdesign – you’ll be hearing a lot more about him over the next few years.
