Lighting trends from imm cologne 2020
Hi everybody, this is Iris from C-More Interieuradvies.nl in the Netherlands here, with lighting trends and highlights I discovered at imm Cologne 2020. Although lighting is not a focus area at imm cologne 2020, there were certainly a few great trends in this category. I hope you get inspired and maybe even apply some of these inspiring ideas in one of you interior projects.
TREND 1: Dreamy Floating Lights
These lights appear to defy gravity and with minimal wiring, they really do seem suspended in air. Sit back, look up and enjoy the feeling of letting go and dreaming away.
TREND 2: Floating Groups of Lights
Like a murmuration or flocking of birds simple fixtures get their impact from being clustered together and allow for design flexibility as many of them can be varied in scale and visual weight.
TREND 3: Conical Light Shades
A very iconic shape – no pun intended – minimalist cone forms were shown in bright colors, black , white or wood and offer a nod of inspiration from Japanese and Scandinavian designs. Also available as XXL size hanging light.
TREND 4: Constellation wall lighting.
Evoking the look of a lunar eclipse or planets circling the sun and reminiscent of vintage sputnik lights, multiple orbs are arranged in a multitude of constellations. These designs are almost works of art and create the perfect ambient or indirect light.
TREND 5: Pleats.
Wooden or textile light shades many of which can be adjusted as needed to move from task to ambient or general lighting as needed. Playful and elegant at the same time.
TREND 6: Connected spiderweb wall lighting.
Definitely a trend I spotted in a few industrial places last year, but now it’s translates to a more chic and high-end lighting fixture with endless customization options that turn light source into sculpture.
