Kukka at Design Junction London 2012 – The Delight of Simplicity
Rona Meyuchas K creates small batch collections under the Brand name Kukka and will be displaying at Design Junction in London, part of the itinerary for BlogTour London. The company stocks its creative collection once a quarter and bases its product design on what they describe as “cultural behaviors”.
Felucca lampshade is made out of flat decorative flameproof fabric and snap fasteners which is mounted directly on a suspended light bulb. Simple, but very pleasing.
Blocks are, again, simple objects that you feel would be pleasant to have around. Made out of natural unfinished beech wood, they will darken with aged. And you can buy them in any combination as suits your needs or fancy.
My Homes are coat pegs – places to hang clothes. They are hand crafted from maple wood and finished with linseed oil, which means they will also darken with age. Kukka, it seems to us, is about the joys of simplicity.
And we can imagine ourselves picking up one, two or many of these rulers, known as Balata which is, as we are sure you know, Hebrew for floor tile. They were inspired by the habit of counting floor tiles to measure rooms and are the same length as a standard tile, 20cm. This makes Balata a pleasant length to carry or slip in your top pocket. They are made from recycled materials so you never know exactly what color you will find. And, should you be one of our much treasured American readers, isn’t it nice to have a reminder that much of the world isn’t measured in inches?
