Fine craftsmanship, dynamic movement and artistic inspiration- furniture by John Galvin
Originally from Ireland, John Galvin works in Glasgow’s west end specialising in the application of traditional cabinet making methods to design bespoke furniture that intrigue and captivate. His designs take inspiration from natural form incorporating a sense of movement and energy into his work. His materials are sustainable Scottish hard woods. His designs are unexpected and his inspiration comes from Neapolitan Ice cream of his childhood and the dynamic art of Bridget Riley.
From his Neapolitan collection, this sideboard is an example of combining sustainably harvested wood for the main carcass and remnants of walnut, oak, ash, poplar and sapele to form a laminated design for the doors. You cant resist the urge to run your hand across the doors. And every detail speaks volumes about the makers craftsmanship.
Dynamic movement, intelligent sustainable design and exquisite craftsmanship. We look forward to seeing more of John’s work.
