Modenus At Large: At Home with Mally Skok
By JocelynHutt
Picture this: a long winding road leads up to a perfectly appointed house set on six lovely acres near a pond in Lincoln, MA. Outside it’s raining and dark, inside it’s sunny and warm because we are in the home of one Mally Skok; interior designer and more recently textile designer extraordinaire. Upbeat, engaging, colorful – these are the adjectives that describe Mally AND her collection.
Having attended the #Brimfield Tweetup in May where we met Mally and so many other fun tweeps, the idea of not seeing people again until the next #Brimfield in September didn’t seem to fly – so - as is the way of Twitter – ideas were tossed around and Mally offered her home as the spot for a lovely way to see one another again and even to meet some newer members of the New England contingent of Tweeters. (Above is Mally at Brimfield Antique’s Show in May with newly discovered treasures; of the muffin pan she says with a laugh: “I see a fabric pattern”).
We were treated to a lovely lunch, and a tour of Mally’s studio and we were given samples of her wonderful wallpaper and fabrics. Suffice it to say, we were enchanted.
Like all good networking sessions, we weren’t ALL about the food and the chatter: much advise about the industry and websites and business was given and received, and to that end, we couldn’t imagine a more productive way to spend the afternoon. Oh – not to drive people crazy but the food WAS amazing too.
We thank Mally for her gracious invitation and hope to see everyone very soon at the next #Brimfield Tweetup at the latest.
