Daily five: Day nine – I want them to be mine – at ICFF

Pickett Furniture Brann Light

Pickett Furniture
Booth: 1466

Brooklyn based (where else?!) Jeremy Pickett is one of the world’s good people. Like all of his products his Brann light is as environmentally sensitive as he can make it. The lights are LEDs, the wood is bamboo and the varnish is water based. His products have a couple of other things in common as well. They are all beautifully made and thoughtfully designed. You will find Jeremy in amongst all the other clever and creative people of Brooklyn. We suspect it is going to be one crowded corner of ICFF.

Booth: 1053

If you have ever wondered where upmarket hotels and savvy designers get those unusual, organic pieces that create conversations, you need to come and have a look at Rotsen Furniture. They design and make unique high-end  furniture, lighting and artwork using eco-friendly materials. Just look at the Chando coffee table above, totally memorable. Rotsen Furniture are also charming people, we know them well, love them a lot and hope to show you more on Modenus very soon. Well worth a visit.

CercaTrova Design Table

CercaTrova Design
Booth: 1972

It is  almost as if no one has told Matthew Shively how he ought to design and make furniture, so he does it as he believes it ought to be. If that implies that Matthew hasn’t studied and practiced his craft then that isn’t intended. One look at his work and you know this is a man who has mastered his craft. It’s just the he also likes to have fun!

Zelouf and Bell Fan Table

Zelouf and Bell
Booth: 2066
Belfast born, self-taught furniture maker Michael Bell and his design partner, American Susan Zelouf work with a  team of master cabinetmakers to make warm yet spectacularly contemporary furniture to commission in their workshop on a dirt road in the midlands of Ireland. You can see some of their work at their studios in California and Dublin or, of course, at ICFF and, very soon, on Modenus.  The picture above is their Fan Desk. If you are working at your own desk, or maybe the living room table have a look at what you are resting your lap top on. Now look again at the desk above. Sorry, we didn’t mean to make you weep.

Kenneth Cobonpue stand with car

Kenneth Cobonpue
Booth: 1112

Kenneth Cobonpue is more than a true ambassador for South Eastern Asian design, his company is more than just the people responsible for some of the best natural, island style, organic feeling furniture and lighting. He is even more than a  great showman creating attention grabbers like the Phoenix car, shown above. Kenneth Cobonpue is a phenomenon. Fight your way through the crowd which is bound to be assembled around theirbooth and you will see what we mean.

That’s our lot for the five a day previews. If you have missed any but you are too lazy to seek them out don’t despair, we will be publishing a combined preview of all 45 tomorrow. And if you are at ICFF come and find us and say hi. We will be twittering like crazy, as ever, on @modenus.
