Crushed glass, crushed marble and riverstones – Lights from Ridgely Studio Works

Lights from Ridgely Studio Works

I can’t be the only person who picks up stones from beaches and rivers, takes them home, ruins their washing machines by leaving them in their pockets ( maybe that is  just me) and leaves them in little piles on book shelves. There is something incredibly pleasing and even calming about the smooth water-worn shape. Well now there is a light just for us. Riverstone Cube from Ridgely Studio Works, shown above, works as a light sculpture indoors or out and can also be used as seating or a table if you add a piece of glass for instance. Crushed Glass follows!

And here it is, one of a series of lights, known as  Crush, which involve crushed tempered glass contained in a welded stainless steel mesh cage. We are told that the glowing light  shimmers with an ethereal quality. We think it is extraordinary and rather wonderful.

Crush also comes with Crushed Marble, again in a welded steel cage. The effect is different but equally pleasing. We love lighting in all its forms and it is gratifying to come across something that looks like nothing else on the market. So our thanks to Zac Ridgely and his Ridgely Studio Works. We’re fans – it is almost a crush.
