Things Modenus Loves – The Jazz Chair by Sebastien Turrotte
Sebastian Turrotte managed to talk the world famous Ronnie Scotts Jazz Bar into commissioning him to make this chair. For no other reason than that, we should all know that he is a force to be reckoned with.
And when they asked him to make something which reflects jazz music with ‘freedom of the individual within a group context’ and ‘improvisations within a strict rhythmical structure’ he was either going to be totally flummoxed or produce something amazing. We met Isle of Wight (US readers – it’s just off Southern England and next door to the 1950′s) based Sebastian at the London New Designers show where he told us his story and his intention to make an even better Jazz Chair.
Sebastian already has a good portfolio of interesting pieces which show an impressive creativity and craftsmanship. In amongst it are some of the mood boards that inspired the Jazz Chair. I am sure he won’t mind if we share them with you.
