These are a few of my favorite things – Thing 1 Katherine Morley

I’m not Canadian, in fact I will publicly admit to only having ever visited our northern neighbours once thus far and will now, also publicly, promise to remedy that very soon. But I wanted to add this vase collection to my list of Christmas wonderfulness. I don’t know if that gets me an honorary citizenship or maybe just carte blanche for a day to say “eh?” a lot, but I’ll take what I can get as long as one of these is under the tree. Ok not one, it has to be the lot.

We got all the good symbols, eh…

Every Canadian province and territory has an assortment of official and unofficial emblems. These are some of Katherine’s favourites and I love them as a cluster. Shown from left to right:

“Pink Lady’s Slipper” PEI;
“Common Loon, Ontario;
“Great Horned Owl” Alberta;
“Inukshuk”, Nunavut;
“Fleur De Lis”, Quebec,
“Woodland Caribou” Newfoundland & Labrador,
Spirit Bear”, British Columbia,
“Red Spruce” Nova Scotia)

Title: Canadian Emblem Vases
Material: Hand drawn on porceain, glaze
