Recapping Blogtour London 2013: Erica Wakerly surface design
By Florence von Pelet
Tent London was surely one of the favorites during London Design Week and BlogTour London with a continuous flow of quirky, fun, colorful and bespoke design. Erica Wakerly fits into all of those categories with their award winning print design. She describes her print design as “ Modern and delicate. Distinct, but not overpowering.”
The black and white “Fan” fabric is both, chaotic and geometric, with a very modern feel. The play on lines adds a great 3-D element and we love that this fabric can be used for soft home furnishings and upholstery. The design is also available in a bold white and red combination in 100% cotton or cotton and linen mixture. Would love to see this fabric used as a drape.
It’s clear why Erica Wakerly has scooped up a few awards with her bespoke wallpaper. The “Angles” wallpaper is creative in its organized chaos and discord of shapes. The metal like paper is also available in black and gold for a darker more dramatic look and gold and white for a luxury ambiance. All of Erica Wakerly’s wallpapers are printed with eco-friendly, non-toxic water based inks. Eco-friendly and fabulous.
Among other talents Erica Wakerly also designs tile. This mod tile piece is made with concrete and finished with matt concrete with the addition of smaller colored tile circles.
