On the wings of the past – these ain’t your momma’s wing chairs
Wingback chairs have long been a staple in traditional interiors, the ideal anchors for a conversation area or alone in a cozy reading nook and no one denies their cup-of-tea-and-a-good-book-at-the-end-of-a-long-day appeal. During our recent whirlwind tour of London’s Design Festival we spotted an wide variety of styles with an emphasis however on a much more modern variety of the well loved classic.
Michael Malmborg’s Wing Lounge Chair, very much in the style of Eames
Valdemar chair by Martin Kechayas and Christian Nørgaard for Normann Copenhagen
Matthew Hilton for Heal’s, Luna Chair
Lounger Chair by Jaime Haydn at BD Barcelona
Wingback chair by James Design UK, who’s full line can be found on Modenus, of course.
We think Wingback’s will always have a place in a well designed interior and these examples but it clear that they’re quite capable of transcending styles.
