Clerkenwell Based Ochre may have a showroom and a retail store in New York but we were delighted to see their elegant and glamorous designs at Decorex, part of London’s Design Festival. The images kindly supplied by Ochre are so much better than anything we were able to capture for ourselves so our gratitude to them. We have heard people talk about glamour and tradition as being almost synonymous. We believe Ochre demonstrate that glamour can be distinctly contemporary and pleasingly elegant.
The chandelier shown above is their Arctic Pear Chandelier - Double Wave available with a bronze or nickel frame with solid clear glass drops. Undeniably modern, undeniably glamorous.
Another from the Arctic Pear range, this time described by Ochre as ’round’ and available in the same finishes as its straighter sister. This is the sort of light you feel tempted to design a room around.
And, of course, Ochre don’t just make lights. Coco is made with strips of coconut shell and has a mercury glass mirror which we think is a lovely detail. also available in white, its impact is immediate.
And finally, a piece of furniture, indeed a chair which we believe proves the point that glamour can be simple, elegant and contemporary. Throne is made from bleached oak and has detachable leather back and seat cushions. Close up you can really appreciate the workmanship and attention to detail. Ochre talk about ‘quiet beauty’. We think that sums up their designs perfectly.
