London Town Pillows by Diane Goode
Some of us get nostalgic for London, some of us curse its traffic and others just wonder when Modenus will tire of banging on about it. Sorry, its a sort of love affair. Diane Goode, however, pays homage to the city that sits on the banks of old father Thames by hand painting pillows decorated with its street furniture. She says it will withstand daily use and dry cleaning. We say its less than a couple of months till Christmas. And as Diane’s pillows are hand made to order you need to get your skates on.
This is detail from Kensington. The full pillow, and more, follow.
We promised you the whole pillow and we didn’t let you down. Four London icons including the less than universally popular London Pigeon.
Diane goes for the strictly rose tinted specs approach but captures a real feel of London’s many squares and parks. And lets face it, if you can’t go for an idealized version of life on a pillow, where can you? This is Berkeley Square and those aren’t nightingales. Diane? What’s with all the pigeons?
This sumptuous silk pillow is entitled Town Houses, It reminds me of the top end of Farringdon Rd. Or could it be Notting Hill? I don’t know and Diane isn’t saying, but on the rooftops those are definitely giant pigeons!
