A thousand and one fantasy nights by Goldthorpe & Edwards Ltd
“I want a ‘genie in a bottle’ room!” said the client to J. Wesley Goldthorpe & Anne L. Edwards of Goldthorpe & Edwards, Ltd. And this is what they got! We’ve published a larger picture after ‘continue’ but look carefully and you’ll see multiple divans, chaises and chairs including a huge custom designed Matla , a massively deep L shaped low sofa, the size of a king and two twin beds. It is all smothered with exotic silk beaded pillows. Gold leafed poles are built into the custom and, indeed, over-sized piece of furniture so that it too could be veiled with bejeweled silk draperies.
Hand painted designs were patterned on the walls and then encrusted with faux jewels that twinkle in the candle and lantern light. Giant floor pillows wallow atop scattered Persian carpets ,the 16’ ceiling allowed the iridescent silk fabric veils to enshroud the intimate space. Lanterns hang all about and there is a myriad of candles.
The color palette, ranging from muted tones to shocking vivid, adds to the eclectic, exotic feel and fantasy nature created by merging elements of Asian, Moroccan and Middle Eastern design.
On seeing the room, one of the client’s mothers exclaimed “Oooh, I am going to have more grand children”. We’re not going to comment on that!
