Modenus loves interesting lighting. Our interior design blogs are full of them and this is undoubtedly an interesting light from Portuguese Studio Verissimo. But indulge me for a second while I have a quick rant about plastic spoons. I loathe plastic spoons. I loathe them even more than I loathe plastic shopping bags. They are designed to be used once and then clog up landfills. And the alternative is something much nicer to use that can be washed easily. Yup, plastic spoons, lazy and wasteful. So why the rant? Look closely.
Yes, this rather elegant light is indeed made from those pointless plastic coffee stirrers which were otherwise destined for the dump. And as if that isn’t enough Studio Verissimo also use plastic spoons to make furniture.
Spoon Table, well what would you have called it, is made from plastic spoons, aluminum and glass. And you can even get it in black, white or red. And we know it is hard to tell that these really are spoons, so here is a close up.
So our thanks to Studio Verissimo for making furniture that makes us smile, for proving once again that there are some very interesting things coming out of Portugal and, of course, giving me an opportunity to once again bang on about how much better it is to use something that is well made and will last than something that is disposable and wasteful. What do you stir your coffee with?
