Design Junction: Nature Inspired Wood Chair Design by Vido Nori
By Florence von Pelet
Blogtour London is just around the corner and we can not wait to explore the brilliant manufacturers at Design Junction, one of them being Vido Nori a wonderfully talented designer out of Budapest, Hungary. Vido Nori’s wooden chair design is organic in nature and wildly modern in style and we are excited to check out her latest architectural projects and her complete line.
The Centipede chair crafted from pure Mahogany is steadfast, sturdy with a play on design. Vido Nori discusses her inspiration for the chair as the stream of water cascading down from her shower except in the form of wood.
The geometric styling of this chair is on point, it is clean but diverse in its shape and direction. The Twiggy chair is made from solid walnut. Vido Nori describes her inspiration as a story,” A frightened deer is listening to the noises of the forest. Suddenly, she is startled by the sound of a cracking branch.” If you look closely, the back portion almost perfectly emulates that upright stiff position of a startled deer with her head turned. How clever.
The designer’s architectural background is apparent in these sculptural pieces. The pieces are inspired by a romantic story: “An aristocratic lady, sitting at the bar, watching her secret lover, a black man, playing on stage in a jazz band.” The lady represented in the left hand chair, MDF veneered in zebrano wood and the man represented by the right hand piece also MDF veneered in natural makassar ebony. Lovely duo.
