Design Junction: Award winning designer Sonya Winner
By Florence von Pelet
There is no way Blogtour London can visit Design Junction without stopping in to see rug designer Sonya Winner. The talented designer effortlessly blends colors and has a way of creating a uniquely layered effect of geometric design and texture.
We love the Tree Trunk collection, a limited edition line of rugs hand knotted with pure deep pile silk in Kathmandu valley Nepal. The collection will certainly add warmth, comfort and a creative focal point to a living space. The unique tree like design is a visionary way to add artistic zest to your living room, oh and the silk provides a feeling of absolute luxury under your toes.
Sonya Winner is undoubtedly known for her use and blending of color like the After Matisse piece above. The kaleidoscopic rug was originally inspired by Matisse’s paper cutouts. The squares overlap each other producing a riot of exuberant color variations as they playfully twist and turn. The New Zealand wool collage of color has 25 different hues and is also available in pure raw silk.
The Rainbow Runner is a wonderfully geometric and linear arrangement of colors that really pops as a hallway accent. The rug is also made from New Zealand wool hand knotted in Nepal by Goodweave Weavers. The combination of vibrant color and length is simply striking.
