Decorex 2013: Shona Marsh – the fusion of wood and silver
By Florence von Pelet
Shona Marsh is a unique artisan working out of Cockpit Arts, London. She specializes in superb craftsmanship of beautiful wood and silver pieces using a variety of silver-making techniques. We look forward to her handcrafted designs at this year’s Decorex during BlogTour London.
This bespoke collection of wood and silver pieces is a lovely addition to the kitchen or table top. The salt and pepper set gets dimension through the wooden coaster piece. The Cheese plate on the upper right gets a modern edge from the simple metal handles and coordinates perfectly with the set of modernist cheese knives. We are loving the compact mirrors handcrafted in solid wood, an item that most of us women cannot live without, so why not style it up a bit? Lastly, the cream jug and sugar collection is delicate and contemporary at the same time.
Shona Marsh had the honor of being commissioned by Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to create a folded gold cross as a gift for Pope Benedict XVI. The beautiful hand-crafted golden star piece rests in the Vatican today.
