Decorex 2013: Boatswain Lighting – Translucent porcelain lighting
By Florence von Pelet
We love nothing more than manufacturers and designers who get creative with materials outside of their normal use and Boatswain does exactly that with porcelain. As BlogTour London approaches we are delighted to know that Decorex will be exhibiting the UK based manufacturers who create stunning porcelain chandeliers that embrace both, traditional and contemporary design.
These two and three tier drum chandeliers are warm and welcoming. Boatswain best describes translucent porcelain, “The light emitted from translucent porcelain provides a warmth and softness to an interior which enhances the dining experience and naturally welcomes you into reception areas.” The light teases the eye and lures us to its center as a focal point of a dining room or living space, creating a sensual and almost flirty ambiance.
The Spring Butterflies Chandelier is playful, soft and very sculptural. The chandelier is made up of individual translucent porcelain butterflies embossed with a damask texture.
Levitas is a sleek porcelain lighting collection equipped with the latest LED technology. We love the atmosphere it creates as the lights suspend at varying heights. They remind us of the floating candles in Harry Potter’s great hall. How fun.
