Maryam is author of the hugely stylish and popular My Marrakesh blog, winner of best African Weblog for the past three years as well as the author of the coffee table book Marrakesh By Design. You can learn a lot about interior design just by reading Nyla Free’s blog Nyla Free Designs. It is full of beautiful images, advice and inspiration from a true interior design professional from Calgary, Canada. Her Facebook page is a fascinating mix of finds and details the everyday life of a much in-demand interior designer. Nyla’s Pinterest Boards are a visual treat and her Twitter feed where she is @nylafree provides a glimpse of an incredibly spontaneous, energetic and creative woman. And as if blogging, designing and being a mom weren’t enough, Nyla also contributes to Dabble Mag.
James Bedell is a New York-based lighting designer, author of the inspiring book Losing Edison: Beautiful Sustainable Lighting at Home and an enthusiast for lighting as a discipline and a study. He has also contributed articles for Live Design Magazine and PLSN. He shares his passion on his website James Bedell Lighting Design, his blog on Tumblr and on Twitter as @jamesbedell – which is worth checking out for lots of reasons, not least his profile picture. We love that James gets social media – that it is about meaningful engagement and not about noise.
Robin Horton is the creator, designer, and writer of Urban Gardens, an award-winning green lifestyle and design blog that explores innovative and eco-friendly designs, trends, and ideas for the stylish urban garden. Urban Gardens is the recipient of the prestigious Platinum Creativity Award, the Garden Writers Association Gold and Silver Awards and was nominated for a Webby award. Robin describes her Twitter stream as “Unlimited Thinking for Limited Spaces” – you can follow her as @urbangardens. Christian May is a Los Angeles-based interior decorator with what he describes as “decided opinions about design.” You can read those views on his fascinating lifestyle blog Maison 21. Judging by his Facebook page he also has a soft spot for felines and canines alike. Christian is an endlessly entertaining Twitter enthusiast as @maison21. Raina Kattelson tells us that she has been designing since she was a kid, first creating Barbie clothes and later her own as well as constantly redecorating her room. Now that she is all grown up she is a stylist specializing in fashion, beauty, still life and interiors. Jennifer Mehditash is a New York-based interior designer and editor of the Dec-a-Porter blog where she shares trends, news, views and inspiration. Lynn Byrne became an interior designer after her house burned down and friends liked what she did with the new one – there must be easier ways of making career choices.
