Delightful Dinning Room Courtesy of Sonya Kinkade

We are hoping that this is more of a ‘work in progress’ rather than a before shot on the left. Otherwise it cant have been too comfy. Especially as it was the family living room! Sonya Kinkade turned it into the very splendid dinning room you see above.

In fact,  a kitchen renovation had opened up the kitchen into the original dining room area to make a large eat-in kitchen but leaving the family without a dining room. They did, however have other rooms to spare.

Sonya liked the stone fireplace but it was out-dated and cold with its  grey brick, so she installed built-in units on either side to frame the stone and painted them a warm pale grey green which made the brick come alive and feel much warmer.  She then added a wood mantel for added presence and warmth.  A new large custom window was added and softened with cheerful draperies.

Sonya refinished the existing antique dining table and added new chairs.  The antique sideboard was painted black and to balance this a large black mirror was hung over the mantel that also reflected the gorgeous French chandelier that Sonya tells us she purchased for its ‘wow factor’.  New lighting was added throughout the perimeter of the space for added depth and drama.

The clients are delighted with their new dinning room, the first thing you see when you enter their home.
