MVS Chaise by Vitra Inc.

MVS Chaise

Vitra Inc.

Although MVS looks like a sculptural object at first glance, as soon as you use it you realize just how comfortable it is. The soft, elastic upholstery fits the body's contours, making it an extremely comfortable recliner. The frame construction makes it easy to shift from a sitting to a lying position.
Freeform Sofa and Ottoman by Vitra Inc.

Freeform Sofa and Ottoman

Vitra Inc.

Two examples of Noguchi's predilection for sculptural lines are his Freeform Sofa and Ottoman, the shapes of which are reminiscent of river pebbles. Noguchi himself described his design as "soft rock". Thanks to its organic shape and the natural tones of its upholstery fabric the sofa has a light, elegant feel, despite its voluminous form. Wiggle Side Chair

Frank Gehry is well known for his use of unusual materials. With his "Easy Edges" furniture he succeeded in giving a new aesthetic dimension to such an everyday material as cardboard. Despite their appearing bafflingly simple, the "Easy Edges” are nonetheless constructed with an architect's care and are extremely robust and sturdy. Having given them a makeover from the world of colour, Gehry has given the "Easy Edges" a new dimension - colourfulness.
Cone Chair and Stool by Vitra Inc.

Cone Chair and Stool

Vitra Inc.

Originally designed for a Danish restaurant, this cone-shaped chair is based on the classic geometric figure and is mounted on a stainless steel swivel base in such a way that it pivots. Its semi-circular shell is high enough to form the back and arm supports, making it an exceedingly comfortable place to sit.
C1 by Vitra Inc.

C1

Vitra Inc.

Verner Panton’s career as a designer first peaked at the end of the 1950s. With a series of furniture featuring basic geometrical shapes he pre-empted Pop Art ideas and yet with the base frames clearly adopted the elegance of Scandinavian Modernism. The best-known models from the series are the Cone Chairs and Heart Cone Chairs, originally designed for a restaurant. With the C1 armchair created around the same time, Verner Panton for the first time chose a section of a sphere. On swivel bearings and slightly tilted, the upholstered seat shell is astonishingly comfortable – both for relaxed sitting leaning back and for upright sitting. The C1 can be integrated into private apartments, hotels or reception areas, cuts a fine figure in larger groups.
Amoebe by Vitra Inc.

Amoebe

Vitra Inc.

The Amoebe was originally dreamed up for Panton's famous Visiona installation. It is a marvellous example of close-to-the-floor lounge furniture and embodies the spirit of the early 1970s. In bright colours, the re-edition delivers even greater comfort thanks to its flexible backrest shell.
Grand Repos by Vitra Inc.

Grand Repos

Vitra Inc.

“Developing a new chair for Vitra in the wake of a masterpiece like the Eames Lounge Chair was a unique challenge.”" Antonio Citterio Grand Repos and Repos stand in the tradition of the classic lounge chair, but have developed this concept further to reach a new level. With their generous padding and continuously adjustable sitting positions, these chairs fulfil almost all demands with respect to comfortable, relaxing seating. The Italian designer and architect Antonio Citterio knows how to combine timeless elegance with unsurpassed comfort. He has worked with Vitra regularly for around 25 years and during this time has created a variety of designs – including several pioneering office chairs. After many years of experience in creating dynamic and healthy seating, he has now applied his expertise to the private living area, with Grand Repos as his premiere piece.
Heart Cone Chair by Vitra Inc.

Heart Cone Chair

Vitra Inc.

A variant on Cone Chair, designed one year later and baptized Heart Cone Chair because of its heart-shaped outline. Heart Cone Chair has large, projecting wings reminiscent of Mickey Mouse ears that could also, however, be interpreted as a contemporary take on the classic wing chair.
Slow Chair by Vitra Inc.

Slow Chair

Vitra Inc.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec created this expansive armchair by using an extremely strong, precisely shaped knit which is stretched over the metal frame like a fitted stocking. Thanks to the knit sling cover, the Slow Chair combines soft comfort with ergonomic support, which is further enhanced by thin seat and back cushions. The translucent sling cover replaces the thick cushions of traditional armchairs, resulting in a design that is lightweight, yet generously proportioned. The restrained appearance of the Slow Chair is equally appealing in the living room or winter garden, while offering unrestrained seating comfort.
Alcove Sofa by Vitra Inc.

Alcove Sofa

Vitra Inc.

The central idea behind the Alcove Sofa is that a sofa can be much more than just a piece of furniture. This is especially true of the Alcove Highback Sofa, whose side and back panels reach an exceptional height. When someone sits down on the Alcove Highback, they find themselves in a secluded space. Thanks to the outstanding acoustic qualities of the Alcove Highback Sofa and its function as a visual screen, it creates a peaceful oasis — especially in spacious living areas. This effect is even more pronounced when two sofas are positioned face to face, thereby defining a room within a room. The Alcove Highback Sofas all have high side and back panels and are more than just pieces of furniture: Sitting in one of these sofas is like being in a space of one’s own, hardly visible to others and protected from surrounding office noises.
