Zodiac is created on premium European full top grain leather and tanned using a specific tanning process that is formulated to ensure the leather retains the decorative embossing for years to come. Zodiac is embossed using a mold instead of a standard embossing plate, which allows the embossing have a three dimensional effect. Zodiac is layered with water-based finishes and glazes that give this leather its rich deep color. Since all of the finishes are applied by hand inconsistencies from hide to hide and within each hide should be understood and appreciated. Expect color variation from swatch to order due to this fact. A clear water-based top coat is applied for final protection. Masquerade

theleathercollection

Masquerade is the new in aniline technology. Masquerade was developed in Germany for our customers that need a bit more color consistency than a true pure aniline or natural leather. Masquerade has a revolutionary new topical treatment that enhances the specification of the leather without diluting the hand or changing the appearance of the natural surface and grain. Unlike micro pigments, Masquerade does not have pigment and will not look painted but offers a better color consistency than the traditional pure aniline leather. Healed scars, belly and neck wrinkles and other natural markings are apparent throughout the hides. Color variation does occur from lot to lot but is miminmized compared to an aniline but not as good as a truly protected aniline leather. Masquerade will develop a patina over time. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will fade and dry the product.

Bronte

theleathercollection

Bronte hides have a burley crackle effect which gives the appearance of an aged leather. Bronte has strong character and rugged good looks. Bronte can easily blend with feminine touches or boldly stand alone. It can even say “Old English Pub!” Hides are tanned using “Green technology” which is an environmentally friendly tanning process and then dyed for color using water-based dyes. A heavy wax is applied to the surface of the hides and allowed to dry so that it gives the surface of the leather a weathered appearance. The great thing about Bronte is the effect the wax creates allows the natural characteristics of the leather to shine through so you can expect to see healed scars, scratches, belly and neck wrinkles in this leather. Color will vary from dye lot to dye lot and within the hides. Prolonged exposure to light will cause leather to fade. If you are looking for an aged & worn leather this is for you!

Zebra by theleathercollection

Zebra

theleathercollection

Hair on hides Zebra hides are cow hides that have been tanned without removing the natural hair. HOH have a specific tanning process to retain the hair. During the tanning process the hides are treated with oils in order to keep them as soft as possible. These hides are bleached to remove as much of the natural pigment possible, even though the hides are bleached and then dyed for color the base color for these articles will vary. Understand color variation is to be expected and should be appreciated. Remember, that when dying hair the color is absorbed differently in each strand of hair and the pigment left behind in each strand will affect the way the hair takes the color. HOH are great for upholstery and as rugs because they require little maintenance. HOH are a category that is not tested to have any specific leather specifications. Note that they can fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight and the hair will dissipate with use in the traffic areas. We recommend the LCK care and maintenance kit.
