Amy Genser’s exploration of paper as medium began in graduate school for graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design. Art school led her to paper, but her year round visits to the beaches of Rhode Island inspired her love of the natural world. she masterfully manipulates paper to satisfy her obsession with color, texture and pattern while composing works undoubtedly influenced by her fascination with organic forms and natural processes. Genser’s work grows from piles of flat paper into textured, three- dimensional constructions. Manipulated by her hands, each piece of paper is stacked, rolled, and cut, creating growth rings of color.
