“The name comes from the word ‘alluvial’ which means layers of sand strata laid down by rivers. The ‘Sand Shade’ has patterns cut on its inside which are only visible when the light is turned on. These patterns are like the braided rivulets made by water running across sand, or rivers through gravel. Sculptor Ben Pearce frequently uses woodturning in his sculpture. He designed ‘Little Ed’ lamp base with old toys and tribal carvings in mind and wanted to create a solid sensuous lamp that would last for generations.” - David Trubridge
