Color me happy – our trends from Coverings 2012 in Orlando (part 1)

Coverings 2012 in Orlando was certainly worth a visit this year with a wealth of decorative tiles that took us by surprise. Gone is the ocean of beige and we’re instead being treated to colors and textures that make tile shopping fun. Sicis glass mosaics (above) were, of course, striking as ever. Enjoy our trends from the show.

A kaleidoscope of color

We loved the use of fresh colors in a familiar pattern at Hirsch Glass and were happy to see that Modenus’ current favorite orange is alive and well in Terramar’s wavy glass tile pattern.

Interesting in color choice and patterns was this mosaic we found in the Japanese pavilion (left) and the whimsy in the floral pattern from Inner Piece at Wholesale Tile by Aguyao made us smile.

More from one of our favorite color finds at the show, Inner Piece, these two patterns are both available as small deco patterns to accent a neutral field tile or, for the bolder folks, to create a very vibrant field or band. And why not? Color doesn’t always have to be used sparingly.

Speaking of color and “not sparingly” this piece at Hirsch Glass was certainly eye catching and we can imaging it in many commercial applications or even a swimming pool. What do you think? And on the right, just one more tribute to the season’s hottest color before Pantone change their mind. This boldly colored glaze can be found at Wizard Tile.  Lots of vertical line by the way which adds a nice dynamic. Thoughts?

Great choices and picks. We are thrilled to see the same general trend in tile: bold colors, strong geometric patterns and texture.  Tile does all of these these trends so well!  Honored that you included the Inner Piece tiles in your top picks.  Thank you!

Hi Laura, I believe they are called Hirata tile and the email of the person I spoke to is nr_iseki@hiratatile.co.jp – The design is called Hana. Hope that helps.
