Itsy Bitsy Spider climbed in the cup

These are fun!  Chito Kuroda hand throws very delicate cup and piece of tableware. And then she takes her fragile, lovingly produced porcelain and carefully hand paints each one. And what does she paint? Well spiders and spiders webs of course. She is  Japanese, based in London and her work made us smile on a wet, dark evening. We hope it does the same for you.

Incidentally, she also does rather nice line in heart shape/light bulb illustrations. A picture follows along with more of the spider cups.

On reflection, there is something very appropriate about the delicate strength of a spiders web decorating the apparently fragile, hand thrown ceramic. Or are we over thinking this? Can we just go back to saying how much fun these are?

Try as I may, I just can’t find anything pretentious and high brow sounding to say about these illustrations except, why not cups illustrated with light bulbs? And why shouldn’t light bulbs have heart shaped filaments?

Just hope you enjoyed these as much as I do! They are all hand made, hand illustrated and available from Chito’s Itsy shop. Genius!
