There is an impressive array of international designers and producers at this year’s 100% Design. And one of the exhibits we are looking forward to seeing, when we visit as part of BlogTour London, is Alex de Rouvray Design, makers of French minimalist furniture.
The Severin Bookshelf is modern, elegant and slim enough for a corridor, a niche or against a living room wall. It is sculptural enough to be used as a space divider in the center of a room but, for that purpose, I am not sure I would trust it with my treasured bottle of fifty year old Almanac. (If only..)
The Severin Glass Coffee Table is so minimalist that its glass top is held by one single screw. I promise a close investigation to find out how that actually works. However it is fixed, it sits above a very elegant cantilevered steel base.
Not so minimalist, but, to my eye, modernist, the Severin Lounge Chair features premium black leather cushions and a satin black steel base making for a distinct and interesting piece of furniture. Something tells me that despite its angular appearance it may well be remarkably comfortable. I promise to find out at 100% Design and will report back.
