Modenus is incredibly excited to announce our first-ever SoHoHo Holiday Romp! We’re headed to NYC this holiday season to see some old friends, make some new ones, do a little shopping, and hopefully raise some money for a good cause! We’ve found three amazing and generous sponsors who helped make this day a reality: KBIS 2013, Liebherr, and Capital Cooking.
ABOUT OUR SPONSORS:
North America’s premier showcase of what’s new and noteworthy in the Kitchen and Bath industry. See them in New Orleans in April 2013.
Manufacturers of precisely engineered and immaculately finished ranges, cooktops, double ovens and outdoor stainless grills for those who truly love to cook.
Driven by innovation and characterized by sophisticated, fresh design, Liebherr is a world leader in premium refrigeration and responsible manufacturing.
Our action-packed day kicks off with a light lunch in the Isola Trattoria at the beautiful Mondrian Hotel in Soho. After loading up our participants with good food and conversation, we’re releasing them out into the wilds of SoHo for some shopping! We’ve found 8 incredible shops to take part in our SoHo Romp, and they’ll be offering special discounts to everyone participating (like we needed another excuse to go shopping)?
We’ve even thought of a way to help assuage that buyer’s guilt that sometimes pops up after a day of spending! For every tweet sent on 12/19 between 2-9pm EST with the hashtag #SoHoRomp, our three sponsors will donate $1 to a family in Breezy Point who lost their home to Hurricane Sandy. Consider this an open invitation to tweet to your heart’s content! The day wraps up at Dom Interiors/Valcucine with cocktails and mingling with plenty of time to compare the day’s haul!
Calypso Home is stuffed full of beautiful and unique finds for your home sourced from around the world. You’ll find it impossible to leave without picking up a few things!
The ever-evolving collection features items by contemporary American and European designers with a cool mix of traditional artisan goods from India, Brazil and more. Moroccan-print pillows and colorful plush stacks of cashmere blankets are displayed alongside mimosa-scented candles and exotic furniture to create a distinct sense of place. In addition to its own brand of throws and rugs, the store offers pieces from exclusive designers. The Home collection, like Calypso St. Barth’s apparel line, features natural textiles from around the world, and inspire visitors to turn their living spaces into truly unique, effortlessly chic havens.
Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia have been a sought after design team in the fashion industry for more than a decade. They are responsible for much of the couture hand embroideries and unique textiles utilized by some of the industry’s most esteemed fashion houses.
Visionaries in the field of textiles, the couple introduced their successful Ankasa home brand with the mantra that luxurious fashion forward textiles could translate to any design aesthetic. Sachin and Babi have successfully translated their vision of modern luxury into the Ankasa lifestyle brand that is accessible for today’s design savvy consumer. Their 2 stores, located in Manhattan on Madison Avenue and in Soho, host an array of exclusive products including pillows, bedding, furniture, lighting, wall art and accessories.
Matter offers an impeccably curated collection of lighting, furniture, jewelry, wallpaper, storage, and curiosities. To put it succinctly, they carry everything your little design-savvy heart desires. Nothing in this store is ordinary, it’s an absolute haven for those with quirky design aesthetics or who are looking for statement pieces. I have the suspicion it would be very easy to spend an entire day in this store, lost in examining the many beautiful and unique things they have for perusal.
This shop is a true treasure of SoHo. It boasts an eclectic and unique collection of tableware, textiles, jewelry, lighting, curiosities, and vintage furniture. Essentially they have everything you could possibly need for your home! Everything from the wallpaper to the jewelry to the salt cellars is extraordinary and eye-catching. The offerings range from delicate and lovely to bold and irreverent. I have no doubt we’ll lose several SoHoHo Romp bloggers to this store.
With its European sensibility, just about everything here, from transparent, single-mold Louis XVI Ghost chairs by Philippe Starck to batch-dyed polyethylene sofas is plastic at its best. Minimalist hat racks, curvy, lighthearted Maui chairs, and coiling Bookworm shelving all make great presents. Kartell is contemporary, quality, quirky and blessed with a fine sense of humour.
They call it The human light. Artemide say that for more than forty years, they have aimed to make lights as a companion to people, as a source of physical pleasure and mental comfort. That makes sense when you see the range in their SoHo store, what’s more, the lights are all beautifully designed, but as pleasing objects in their own rights but are also as perfectly functional, each for their intended purpose.
The Evolution Store has been a SoHo landmark for almost ten years. It is NYC’s premiere store for science and natural history collectibles, artifacts, gifts, and home furnishings. Steeping into the store is almost like walking into a museum except this is where some of the most original and unexpected presents are going to be bought this year!
Acclaimed interior designer Nina Freudenberger opened Haus Interior to sell high quality housewares at affordable prices. Visitors will be tempted by elegant glassware, pillows, and dishware from Sweden, Spain, South America, Japan, and elsewhere. You can also buy your loved one a design consulting package, particularly handy if they happen to live with you.
Bobby Berk’s stores set trends in New York, Miami, and Atlanta.where they sell furniture, bedding, bath products, home furnishings and, of course, gifts! The style is chic, minimalist urban luxury, with a hip and youthful spirit that perfectly fits any sophisticated lifestyle. This is affordable luxury with no sacrifice made to quality or style.
We suspect we may just be dreaming of a new kitchen from Valcucine but if anyone should be feeling generous this is the place to get inspired by their ultra thin 2mm aluminum doors or, if they have it in the showroom already, Valcucine’s revolutionary all glass kitchen carcass. Sorry – did we get a bit carried away there? Dom Interiors also stock very wonderful products by Alpes, Armado Vicario, Axia, Bellato, EmmeBi, Fiam, Kristalia, Alessi, Max Fire, MisuraEmme, Pallucco, Res, Steel Time, Tacchini and Toscoquattro. But you know what you will find us admiring!
