Raymond Chandler and PG Wodehouse both went to Dulwich College in South London, but not this weekend. On Sunday Modenus joined unexpectedly large numbers of very damp Londoners at the Mid Century Modern Show. A few quick snaps of some of our favourite finds follow. And we will be featuring more, in greater detail, over the coming week or so.
Delicate and elegant ceramics from Sophie Cook. They are hand thrown, have been bought by Georgio Armani, Elton John and Jennifer Aniston and we hope to have them on Modenus very soon!
Curiousa and Curiousa are another company we hope to be featuring on Modenus soon. They make hand blown lights, extraordinary fabrics, really very unusual wallpaper and furniture the like of which you won’t see anywhere else. We absolutely promise a full blog double quick!
Cassandra Ellis finds vintage fabrics and turns them into pillows, light shades and stretched fabrics to stand back and admire. When we asked where she finds them she just smiled sagely.
A simple, beautifully made dining table and chairs in English Oak by Assembly Room. All of their furniture is strong and built to last just as their designs are intended to be timeless.
Two slices of salvaged wood from a single oak tree make up this table by Jonathan Field. The able is constructed and finished with the attention to detail that only comes from a skilled craftsman who is in love with his materials. He also makes chairs, screens and storage to customers specifications. Whatever it takes, we will be showing you more of his work.
Paper Boy make children’s wall paper with a sense of humour. We love the design based on hand shadows and will go away and practise a few as soon as this blog is done.
