If there ever was a time to brag, it’s now: Why should you be in BlogTour 2012?

Do you have a great blog, style, and personality? Do you love design, travel, food and wine? In fact, do you love all the great things life has to offer and want to share them with your captive audience? Yes? Well how about this – would  you like to join Modenus and select teams of bloggers as they scour the world for great design and report back live from the world’s greatest cities and the most recognized design trade shows?

You don’t know what BlogTour is? Sorry, what? Ah yes, you’ve been living on Mars these past few months, no wonder NASA is so bent out of shape. Well, just for you, here’s the gist of it:

Blogtour 2012′s tentative itinerary will include

  • New York City March 19 – 24, 2012
  • Paris September 2012
  • London September 2012

and who knows, maybe we’ll come up with another little jaunt to somewhere fun, just to keep everyone on their toes.

You don’t know what BlogTour is? Sorry what? Ah yes, you’ve been living on Mars these past few months, no wonder NASA is so bent out of shape. Well, just for you, here’s the gist of it:

BlogTour is a sponsored event where a select group of design and lifestyle bloggers is invited to join Modenus on a five day trip to an international design destination. Airfare, hotel, most meals and ground transport are paid for by Modenus and BlogTour’s sponsors and in turn we ask that you do what you do best – blog and tweet, post your finds on Facebook, Pinterest, Instgram or any other outlet of your choosing. The point is, we want you to make a lot of noise and give your audiences a front row seat to major design events, swank parties, podium discussions about design and blogging and the journey as a whole.

The amazing BlogTour 2011 team went to London in September and created 148 blog posts, over 35 million Twitter impressions for #BlogTour2011 as well as anywhere between 1.5M – 3M impressions for each sponsor.  Pretty stellar numbers we think. Below are a few examples:

So, if you think you have what it takes, please leave a comment below to:

  1. Tell us you’d like to be considered for one of the BlogTours
  2. Let us know which design destination for 2012 would be your favorite
  3. Share in no more than five sentences why you should be selected
  4. Leave a link to your blog and your Twitter handle or other social media accounts.

Important: Please note that final selections will be made by Modenus and the BlogTour advisory board. Selected bloggers will receive a formal invitation, complete with itinerary and all other pertinent details for the journey. Bloggers that will be invited to BlogTourNYC from March 19 – March 24  will be notified by January 15, 2012.

We can’t wait to see some of our old friends and meet lots of new ones as we embark on a year of design. See you at BlogTour!!

Being apart of the 2012 BlogTour would be an absolute dream as my blog (Casa Diseno) is my life. I never knew that I would have such inspiration for design, entertaining and furnishings as I do know and am so thankful to have a voice among others in these communities. Writing as editor of Casa Diseno has been a blessing and hard work as I pride myself on providing my readers with versatility and applicable ideas that can be tailored to fit their lives. I should be selected to participate in BlogTour2012 because you are guaranteed to have the following: continuous updates via Twitter and other social media outlets (e.g. Facebook) on my journey through all things decorative and fabulous, play-by-play posts that tastefully detail the various facets of design trade shows, and a ton of photos to take readers on a virtual tour of all my findings. As I am still wet behind the ears with international travel, any location overseas would be fabulous!

    Sincerely,
    Tanvier

Hello Veronika! I too submitted a comment last night and I’m not seeing it here. I don’t want to double post, in case it hasn’t been approved yet, but just wanted to double check as I see several comments have appeared since last night. Many thanks!

I wasn’t going to apply because it looks like a who’s who of bloggers applying to go on Blog Tour 2012 and I was feeling a bit intimidated, but what the heck, why not?!
I would LOVE to be a part of Blog Tour, especially the Paris or London editions.
I own a custom wallpaper company (Black Crow Studios) and since I lean more towards edgy textiles, art, and design. I think I would bring a unique perspective to the shows and be drawn towards things others may not, which would be great for blogging, tweeting, pinning, google+’ing, and the people/products that might get overlooked. My design aesthetic is definitely more along the lines of urban/punk, but I appreciate good design in all styles. The reason I would love to go to Paris is I lived there for a year about 6 years ago (it was the best year of my life) and have not been back, it has been really getting to me lately that I HAVE to get back there SOON, Paris is my long lost lover!! London is a no brainer, the design style in London is right up my alley and I would be honored to be immersed in it. Lastly, it would be an honor to be included with any of the people that have applied and I look forward to building great friendships during the trip.

Hi, it should be approved. I’ll check again tomorrow just to make sure and will let you know.
    Thanks Alexandra

I would be honored and thrilled to be
considered for BlogTour 2012. Wow. Talk about a dream assignment! (Going on
BlogTour, that is, not bragging about myself…) Milan and Paris would be my favorite
destinations—I’ve never been to Milan, and my only trip to Paris was seen
through much younger eyes. Of course, I’d be pleased as punch to go to New York
or London. Each city on the BlogTour 2012 has an amazingly vibrant and colorful
history, so you really can’t lose.

I think I would make a great addition to the BlogTour team because I
offer a slightly different design perspective than most of the people
    submitting.

    1) Like everyone else, I live for
beautiful design but my particular passion is vintage—furniture, illustration,
graphics and clothing (I used to run a vintage shop and still have racks of
vintage clothing). 2) I am an advertising creative director by day (we managed
to un-tackify Fergie and make her look cool and stylish in a TV spot, despite
her humps) and a lifestyle blogger by night (Modern Kiddo has been a top Kids
Design pick from places like Daily Candy and Lucky magazine). 3) I’m obsessed
with color, vintage chairs, photography and have an excellent eye. 4) I am goofy,
funny, love dressing up, tweet like a pro and have a great enthusiasm for all
    that I do. 5) I went to Harvard but I don’t take myself too seriously—I was a
Devil-Ette for 8 years (San Francisco’s kitschy cool synchronized go-go dance
group!) so I’m a blast to have drinks with but I won’t ever embarrass you in
front of your mama or the President.

    Thanks for your consideration!

    Alix

Five sentences compared to twitter could be a book; so here goes! I am an experienced interior Designer located in the Midwest, heartland of the U.S.A and, somewhat embarrassed to admit, have not yet traveled to Milan or Paris! I am Chief Chat Ambassador for #IntDesignerChat, the largest and strongest chat in the design industry which makes in access of 8 million GLOBAL impressions weekly and am frequently top tweeter & most popular.
Obviously I have a passion for sharing resources and helping others and love ongoing education. I believe that attending an International Modenus Blogtour2012 Event will be the catalyst for my blogging as I can tweet with the best of them and simultaneously will enable to me to better serve my high end design clients and I would be honored to be considered!

Hi Veronika, I posted this last night and don’t see it, so I’ll try again. Sorry for the re-do, if you’ve already received.

Why should I be part of any one of these trips of a lifetime?

    1. While I’m not a pro designer, I believe in the value of good design. So much so, I created and published two books about it – “Streetscapes, Creating Better Places to Live” and “The Value of Design and it’s effect on our lives” with Marianne Cusato.

    2. I’ve been writing a weekly blog about designing from the heart called Design Everyday for the Australian online magazine, LightHome for almost a year…It’s about cultivating creativity, finding your own style and creating a home you love.

    3. Writing all of this inspired a new career path as a health and lifestyle counselor – so I can help people find their voice, their unique path and create the home, life, world of their dreams. What a better way to capture creativity in action than to travel with creative types in the most creative settings in the world.

    4. I’m good at capturing moments and experiences. When I went to Tobi Fairley’s blog camp last year, I wrote 6 posts about it on the plane ride home!

    5. I’m a teacher of yoga, meditation and doing what you love. Which means… I can help everyone de-stress, de-tox and be grateful they’re having to recover so much good-ness! And, I can find the healthiest thing on any menu in the world. If you’re interested in that… if not, bon appetit ;)

Why should I be part of any one of these trips of a lifetime?

    1. I love encouraging smart, thoughtful design.

    3. Writing all of this inspired a new career path for me as a health and lifestyle counselor> Now, I can help people design the life of their dreams! I’d use this opportunity to blog about cultivating your own style, voice, path and how to use resources out there to guide your way. I can’t think of a better way to immerse myself in the creative process than traveling with creative professionals throughout the most creative settings in the world.

    4. I’m good at capturing moments and experiences. When I went to Tobi Fairley’s blog camp last year, I wrote 6 posts about it on the plane ride home! And, that was from one day in Little Rock, Arkansas. Imagine what I’d come back with after a week in NY, Milan, Paris or London…….

    5. I’m a teacher of yoga, meditation and doing what you love. Which means… I can help everyone de-stress, de-tox and be grateful they’re having to recover so much good-ness! And, I can find the healthiest thing on any menu in the world… if you’re interested in that… if not, bon appetit ;)

I would love to be included in Blogtour 2012, especially the Milan or Paris events. I am a home stager and host of the bi-weekly #stagingchat where home stagers gather to discuss the unique intersection of design and real estate. Recently I have been added as a contributing blogger on Zillow, one of only 20 such people around the country. This gives me national wide access – my first post on Zillow was posted on AOL real estate 2 days later! I bring a different view of design and would love to attend to see how the European countries better manage living in small spaces, and hopefully use that knowledge and products (when I can) to help stage small homes and condos in the US.

Would truly love to be considered for BlogTour 2012! I think
I watched the BlogTour London video that Stacey created at least a dozen times.
I think it captured the essence of what the BlogTours are about – sharing
inspiration and forging relationships. Plus the bloggers were having heaps of fun!

I would love to experience Milan as I think there is a multitude of
inspiration and exquisite design yet to be shared with the world! (But I
certainly wouldn’t turn down London or Paris!)

I am an Interior Decorator (studied Interior Design) and I
write the blog Décor Happy.  The tagline
is “ideas and inspiration to live well in your home.” I am passionate about
design and I love sharing my work, inspiration and new discoveries related to
décor and design to my growing readership around the globe. I have enjoyed
reporting back from the trade shows I have attended in Toronto (where I live).  I can only imagine the amazing finds and
    exceptional design in Milan
and would love to share that with my readers and followers.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to apply!

I realize this is a little late as an ‘entry’ but would be thrilled to be chosen for the 2012 Blog Tour. Here are the five sentences that should convince you:

    1. While in another life and possessing a greater attention span I feel sure I would have lapped up life as an architect; in this life I content myself writing about one of my favourite subjects – all the ways we can have great form and function around us every day.

    2. As the editor of the Australian sustainable architecture website and digital magazine lighthome.com.au I have an audience of designers and passionate-about-green-design homeowners – 27,000 magazine subscribers and many more site visitors.

    3. I have a digital and editorial content creation team to help me spread the word about great design and add multimedia content to great words.

    4. I know and have written a lot about construction, architecture and design after over 10 years in marketing in the building industry and with a book about renovating published by Penguin Australia under my belt.

    5. Finally, after all this rational stuff, I just love design, and would love to visit New York and would love to mix with others who feel the same WA and love to share all about it.

    Enough love.
    Destination of choice: New York

I would love to be included in BlogTour2012, specifically Milan or
Paris…although Milan is definitely my first choice! I am a home stager
in the DC area, and host a bi-weekly #stagingchat bringing together
home stagers to discuss the unique intersection of real estate and
design!  Recently, I have become a contributing blogger on Zillow, and
only 20 or so people in the US have similar status. My blog posts now truly reach a
national audience and my first post hit AOL’s real estate page within 2
days of posting! I look to be inspired by small space living in Europe and hopefully apply that to small spaces (like condos and efficiencies) that I stage in Washington DC.

I’d love to go on the Modenus BlogTour! I’ve been blogging since 2007 (actually longer but that story I can save for a long plane ride.)  I’m a lover of coffee, fashion, fine wine, historical preservation, travel, interior design, all things French, and a bon vivant.  In the social media world, I am NoirBlancDesign, the Founder of Interior Designer Chat #intDesignerChat, a weekly twitter chat, I started in June of 2010. when I had just moved to the Newport, RI from LA. The chat was my idea of asking question that were on design professional minds, do to the change in our economy, with the goal of networking and collaborating with like minded professionals via twitter.  My intentions, were also to share the power of social media, by attending industry events supported by the chat.  Being part of the Blogtour 2012, and meeting other design bloggers, would be the inspiration for all the late night hours, weekends, that I work at finding top industry guest hosts, blogging quality content that promotes and draws the weekly crowd of leading professionals.  Recently a Guest Host said paid me a compliment saying: Where else, can anyone in our industry go, week after week that has over a 134 global design professionals in the room?  I also have had the support of, the IDC Ambassador team, who are all volunteers.  Because we’ re transparent in all we do, and we all are working Design Professional we are proud that we have reached 8-9million impressions in one hour at #IntDesignerChat.   My day time is filled with running, Noir Blanc Interiors, a established Interior Design Firm (you can learn more on my blogs) and also Barbara Segal & Associates a PR firm.  I believe that Modenus and myself, have both put our blogging and social media skills for interior design, interior architects, and the home decor community to use to inspire, collaborate, network, and educate.  I’d love to explore, tweet, laugh, mingle, be educated in design in the international cities of London, Paris, or Milan.  The only hitch with choosing me, is my Tuesday responsibility to the global #IntDesignerChat community, as rather then skip it….I’d love to be collaborating with the BlogTour in having a live global #IntDesignerChat

    1.  We are a sister and sister team, two
very different people engaging in ongoing colorful and creative conversation on
all things life – design, decor, family, food, and having fun along the way.
Collectively we have a broad background in marketing, social media,
ergonomics, and engineering, resulting in unique perspectives and spin when
exploring our passion – that sweet spot where life and design intersect.  We are seasoned travellers with a broad range
of travel experiences from backpacking and roughing it off the beaten path to
living it up 5 stars.  We have honed our
skills in uncovering the hidden gems wherever we go, comfortable mixing with
the locals to relentlessly pursue the people, finds and nuances that make each
city unique and different.  We believe
design is a hub for expression of culture, living, practical need and personal expression
    - as a blogger your job is not only to report what you see but find a way to
share insights and experiences and drive a mash up of exchanges and
    dialogue.

    2.  Any of your destinations would be awesome, we
would love to participate in BlogTour 2012!
We have a sweet spot for Milan, having an Italian background and
speaking Italian fluently.  We would also
love to see London, being the epicenter of creative and technical design
    and evolution.

    3. While
we are fairly new to blogging, having been around for 6 months, we have
received great feedback and are experiencing exponential growth month after
month.  Changing lanes in our lives has
inspired our voice, giving us a unique perspective of design and how it
integrates with how we live.  We are very
interested in the components that influence design – technology, collaboration,
the global reach of the internet, the influence of old and new principles.  Our backgrounds give us unique filters and
insights, and our collaboration always leads us down an interesting path.  We are especially interested in how design
can affect the way we live in a very real way, how the right space can inspire
or elevate, and create opportunities for people to interact and connect.  Our collaboration always leads us down an
interesting path, and our voice appeals to everyone including designers.  We are really turned
on by the blogging process; not just about voice but about the media -
photography, video and the collaborative and global dialogue of blogging.  We are fun people and we’d love to be a part of the BlogTour team – plus we’re serious foodies and seasoned shoppers.  We look forward to rounding out your group!

Wow. This is going to be a tough one for you guys…loads of great candidates. So I’ll throw my hat into to the mix for good measure. I’m not a interior designer, decorator or a stager. I’m a full time working mom who does 75+ hours a week in the world of IT. A far cry from the world of design. But I’m a lover of all of it. I devour design history, decorating trends, classics and the whole creative process that surrounds the people who work in this world. I get my kicks from mixing East  vs West design trends and thinking.  I’m in awe of how a well designed space can change a person’s perceptions and feelings at any given time. Design has the power to change moods and instill confidence. Any one of these destinations would be a thrill for me and would give me the good kick in the a** I need to finally pursue a dream and change my life’s course.

    Veronika,
Having read and followed from afar with great interest the Blog Tour 2011 in London, it would be an honor to be considered a part of this year’s Blog Tour 2012, as a well traveled architect with over 20 years experience in the US and The Caribbean with an appreciation for design in all objects both man-made and natural.
My personal and professional view on design is that it is a fire ignited in the soul early on, constantly fanned by color, textures, shapes, sounds, aromas, experiences such as travels and memories, is intangible and inborn, only honed and nurtured, but not taught nor learned.
It comes from an innate almost subconscious sense of proportion, light and perception and should always be celebrated when it elevates our collective spirit.
On behalf of my firm, PCDF Architecture, I would be thrilled to attend Blog Tour 2012 in any location but in order of interest:
    1. London – September
    2. Paris – September
    3. Milan – April
    4. NYC – March
It would be enjoyable, informative, and thoroughly engaging to meet and interact with fellow design colleagues – learning and sharing new insights and taking home new experiences to spark new designs.

I am not only a connector, thriving on the rush I get by putting like- minded design creatives in touch with each other and potential opportunities, but I love the back story. I love to dig deep and find out what informs and inspires other creatives to create and innovate and share those stories with others.  The Blog Tour is a perfect opportunity to continue to do just that.

So I have to pick one of these fabulous locations? Too hard! In fact I would pay my own way to be part of the Blog Tour at any of these design shows. But, if I had to choose just one- it would be London. I am intrigued with what I am calling Modern English- the English design revival. Going to Decorex/100% Design in September just after the Olympics could be epic.

I knew early on that design and fashion were in my blood; turning my eighth grade science project into a treatise on the modern American home of 1968. Growing up in the Midwest, my mom and grandmothers passed on an interest in the art of gracious living, working in design has allowed me to combine my twin passions-design and windows.  The entrepreneurial lifestyle allows me the freedom to work remotely and connects with creative types worldwide. I will be your biggest cheerleader.

I’m in love with France – I just can’t get enough of it. I eat her food, breathe her air, drink her wine and indulge in her cheese….I feel illuminated each and every day of my life.  Given that I am so incredibly lucky to live in France, I’d opt out of Paris and instead choose Milan as my ultimate BlogTour destination so that I could indulge in her as I already do so in Paris.

I’m not a blogger with lots of words, preferring to capture the moments I encounter through images. I love the world I see through the lens of my cameras, for often the unspoken speaks much more than can be conveyed in text. I love to share the textures, tastes and tones of the world I discover via JPEG and took up blogging on the advice of my Literary Agent. Although I’m far from experienced, I’m passionate about sharing the beauty I find around me. If selected for BlogTourMilan, my posts would share the beauty of the Italian city via images of her shows, her events, her heart and soul in the city, and the journey on the way.

And, …..if I don’t make the cut for Milan, I will be here in Paris waiting for the BlogTourParis to hit the city of light and the opportunity to meet new people in the blogging world.

Hello! I would be honored to be considered for the NYC blogtour in 2012 because I think it would be a wonderful opportunity to utilise social media technologies to share the best of American design with Bright.Bazaar’s followers and fans. My blog, Bright.Bazaar, has been featured in international interior design magazines and websites across the world, including America, Australia, UK, Brazil, Singapore, Italy and many more. I have written and styled for shelter magazines on both sides of the Atlantic and would be delighted to tour the NYC design scene with an inspiring group of bloggers and design experts. As a dedicated blogger who publishes new content on Bright.Bazaar seven days a week, as well as a continually growing Facebook and Twitter following, alongside over 200,000 followers on Pinterest, I believe I offer an established platform to share the NYC blogtour 2012 journey with readers and design enthusiasts. What a brilliant opportunity! I loved following the 2011 blog tour tweets and posts, it seems like not only were great design finds made but a community of designers and bloggers came together to create something unique and special.
I would be greatly honoured to join the Blog Tour 2012 team in any of the locations but making it to Europe before my 30th birthday in December is at the top of my 30 before 30 list. I can imagine nothing more magical then visiting Paris with a team of creative minds!

    My five sentence summary:
I am the editor of Oh My! Handmade Goodness, a collaborative website for the handmade community with over 30 expert contributors. We share daily posts on the ins and outs of running a successful creative business as well as decor, tutorials, interviews and much more. With over 100 000 monthly visitors and a growing following of nearly 4000 on Twitter and Facebook, Oh My! Handmade has established a reputation as a source for beautiful, useful and well written content. Since taking over as editor I have built relationships with designers, artists, publishers and creatives around the world. Participating in Blog Tour 2012 would help my mission to build our community and make us a top destination for creatives while having a grand adventure, discovering amazing treasures and making new friends.

I’m glad I took a break from Mars today to come across this! I would love to be considered for the London Tour. It would be great to share an international experience like this via blogging and social media.  I would also really like to compare London to NY on a design level.

I would love to be able to attend the BlogTour this year.  Caught some on twitter during last year’s.  My ideal destination would be Paris.  I lived a year in France and am itching to go back!  I would love visiting the other places as well.
My blog is called Design R and is the official blog for my company, Rebecca Ward Design.  I have enjoyed blogging for 3 years, sharing my passion of design, my progress and portfolio of current projects, guest posts and trends in design.  I love the occasional giveaway to give back to my readers and sharing my portfolio to hopefully inspire.  Attending the Modenus Blogtour would be a perfect match for my blog and allow me to share more passion and inspiration for design with my readers and potential and past clients, who love seeing their projects exhibited on my blog.  What an honor it would be!

Who wouldn’t want to be considered for blogtour 2012? Yes, this is a backwards way of telling you that I would love a chance to attend Paris or Milan as part of the blogtour 2012. I won’t lie, I am so jealous of all those who were part of 2011 and NYC 2012.

    * I think if you read my twitter bio you will find that I will fit in perfectly, interior designer, blogger, love good food and wine……..
    * My blog is 10mnths old but already making it’s mark on the world, with over 2,000 unique views per month.
    * I am addicted to design & blogging. Some girls love shoes – I love fabric!
    * Quite simply, I have a dream to give up my 9-5 day job so I can embrace the design world full time and inspire others around the world like so many other bloggers inspire me – and this opportunity might just be the ticket!

1 – With a combined audience of over 15,000 subscribers and growing, my eight month old blog is making an impression on the architecture and design community – especially among the large number of student followers that will shape the future of design (for the sake of the children, pick me!)

2 – As a young architectural designer (just shy of 27), I challenge the status quo with sarcasm and humor, bringing a fresh perspective that bridges the gap between tried and true methods and the cutting edge. I’m living proof that age isn’t everything (unless you’re applying for an AARP membership; then it seems to matter).

3 – Within my four short years of experience, I’ve worked the architecture side of the industry in high-end residential, educational, hospitality and now work full time at Planning Design Research Corporation – an award winning interior architecture firm.

4 – If I wasn’t busy enough already, I’m also developing a fashion start up, growing my website and blog, writing a book on architectural theory, learning Spanish and working towards my architecture license. I don’t call it busy, I call it awesome.

5 – I am a seasoned traveler (ten countries and counting!) with an acute understanding of all things design and a passion for educating, enlightening and encouraging those I meet. I’d count it an honor to attend any of the Blog Tour 2012 trips!

I started my blog with the primary goal of being influential. I’m excited and humbled with the direction it is taking and with the outpouring of support from those in the industry and blog community. (And now for a not-so-subtle name drop: A big thanks to Bob Borson for being an inspiration and encouraging me to chase after these dreams).

I know that opportunities don’t just ‘happen’; you have to MAKE them happen – by asking! Pick me for Blog Tour 2012!

Being associated with Modenus for anything would be an honor, but joining a group of creative, curious, and design-savvy individuals on a BlogTour to scour design fairs and design rich cities uncovering and reporting back on fabulous finds…that’s really sharing the love.

I am the publisher of an award-winning green urban lifestyle and design blog, Urban Gardens: Unlimited Thinking for Limited Spaces. Urban Gardens is about the fusion of interior and exterior design and all of its complimentary design influences–architecture, industrial and product design, landscape architecture and garden design, and even fashion when it applies to the “gestalt.” My audience is best described as design devotees–those folks interested in great design.

I would choose Paris. I have covered Maison et Objet in Paris in the past for Urban Gardens, but every time I visit the show it is new and different. Though I would be happy in Milan (never been to Salone del Mobile) and London is always full of great finds…

    Why I Should Be Selected:
    1) I know Paris well, can share some cool off the beaten track spots I know with the others, and speak fluent French which doesn’t hurt.
    2) People will hear: Urban Gardens has a strong devoted monthly readership of around 30K, around 2K dedicated email and RSS subscribers, and more that 16K combined Twitter and Facebook followers.
    3) Perspective: My 30 years of design experience informs everything I see and write about, and the blog has given me a unique perspective
    4) I’m fun to hang out with
    5) I’m a design spotter and love to share
