Designer Spotlight: Michelle Jennings Wiebe – a passion for design

Studying images of interiors designed by Michelle Jenings Wiebes and her phenomenally successful, Tampa based Studio M is like wandering through an art gallery. There is something about the way in which she crafts light, form, texture and color which brings spaces to life. There is nothing forced or showy, indeed there is a lightness of touch, but an assured touch.

Michelle tells us that she has over twenty years professional design experience and, knowing her personally, this implies she will have started during her early days at elementary school. Joking aside, Michelle tells us that she did, indeed, start young, drafting floor plans, designing small scale homes and still finding time to paint still life. Since those early days, Michelle’s work has continued to mature to a level of professionalism and confidence that is hard to achieve, all whilst never losing sight of creativity.

Michele is generous with her knowledge and experience and much more. She serves on the Advisory Boards at both Florida State University and the International Academy of Design and Technology and contributes to Décor Mentor and Hgtv.com websites. Then there is her blog m{pression , one of the top US design blogs and a regular source of inspiration and knowledge for fellow designers and design enthusiasts alike.

So yes, we are fans of Michelle, not least because of her generosity in assisting with the design of the Modenus booth at this year’s Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York. And just when we were wondering if there is no end to this woman’s talents or energy she casually mentions that she is writing her first interiors book. And that makes sense, because we know that when the first book is published, just like her designs, people will want more of Michelle and, being Michelle, she will give generously.
