And So To Bed – inducing narcolepsy everywhere

They say ignorance is bliss. I felt the full weight of that idiom about thirty seconds after sinking down onto a mattress at And So To Bed. My first thought was that this was the most comfortable bed I had ever laid on, the second, hitting me like a freight train, was that my current mattress is absolutely terrible. I’ll admit that I’ve had my current mattress for the past eleven years, there’s an Erin-shaped depression in it to prove it. I’ve never really given much thought to the quality of my mattresses. I suppose I’ve always placed a higher import on what went on top of the mattress than what went in it. Having recently graduated from college, I can decidedly say that my mattress-related thoughts in the last few years tended towards hygiene instead of luxury. Then I laid down in And So To Bed and my blissful ignorance shattered. So THAT is what a mattress is supposed to feel like (clouds, sunshine, & happiness, in case you were wondering.)

As I laid in a catatonic state of bliss, our lovely tour guide, Jeff Cohen, explained what you should look for in a mattress. He explained that the notion of a firm mattress being good for you is a total misconception. The softness/firmness of your mattress should be correlated to your body weight. A mattress is designed to support your body as you sleep; a super-soft mattress might not have the support needed for a heavier person, while an extra-firm mattress doesn’t have enough give for a lighter person. Apparently, the three heaviest parts of your body are your head, shoulders, and hips. The ideal mattress should offer solid support under your legs and lower back, cushioning those lighter areas and keeping your body in alignment. Well, check marks across the board. This was a mattress fit for a queen.

And So To Bed is a company that has dedicated over forty years to the production of luxury beds, mattresses, and bedroom furniture – I think it’s safe to say they’re experts in the field. This company creates beds that not only induce narcolepsy, but also become family heirlooms – such is their craftsmanship and beauty. Their impeccable attention to detail sets them apart, they even have a luxury dog bed for that special little someone in your life.

Between the lovely And So To Bed staff, the luxurious beds, and the beautiful tea service laid out for us, it’s a wonder we convinced the BlogTour team to leave. Even during the showroom tours, the bloggers were pulling a disappearing act. Poor Jeff was shedding bloggers left and right as he progressed around the showroom, our numbers dwindling each time we passed an available mattress. Bloggers were strewn like sacks of potatoes across every bed they could find though, fortunately, he seemed used to this.
