Nothing beats natural, introducing Rotsen Furniture

Natural wins every time for me. In these time of fakes and celebrity obsession, real natural beauty is something to be truly appreciated. It is also something that cannot easily be replicated. Today in our series of Blog Tour NYC posts we are featuring another sponsor Rotsen Furniture, a company that understands the natural beauty of wood.

The gorgeous stools shown are made from reclaimed Ipê wood. Typically grown in the tropical South-Central America region this species of wood is often used in the building trade due to its durability. Ipê is a very hard wood so to produce these stools is a very labour intensive project. The craftsman at Rotsen have taken big chunks of reclaimed wood and made stunning furniture. The wood grain in these pieces is amazing – after enjoying the style and look of the stools you could have hours of enjoyment counting the rings to see how old the wood is!

The company has been operating since 2005 and is based in Florida. Their furniture is either made in the US or Brazil, and although the majority is custom-built a number of items are available off the shelf. Their work can be seen in high-end hotels and domestic homes around the world – their furniture certainly adds the wow factor to any interior it graces. If you have stayed in a Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental or W Hotel you may have already seen their furniture?

The design process is often driven by the raw material. Would this piece make a great coffee table? Is it large enough for a dining table? The wood used is sourced from California, Brazil and Costa Rica. Often found in isolated areas each piece is assessed by the design team of Rotsen to determine the most appropriate use.

To add a signature piece of art to your home Rotsen also manufacture a range of wall sculptures. The Ferpas range takes their Eco credentials a step further – they are actually created using the offcuts from the manufacturing process. There really is no wastage here, if the wood isn’t used on one of the main furniture pieces it can be used on the Ferpas range. The woods are mosaiced together with polished aluminium to form stunning wall sculptures. The Ferpas range also includes coffee tables, dining tables and console tables.

Next time you are looking to add an organic natural element to your own home take a look at Rotsen Furniture. The natural beauty of the wood is outstanding. I have my eye on a large wood slab for my own home, I am presuming they will ship to the UK …?

After years working in the corporate world, Andrew Dunning left the City to follow his true passion of Design, so he retrained in interior design and launched APD Interiors in 2004. The brand was launched with one aim: to allow people to have their dream home for an affordable price as Andrew firmly believes that good design doesn’t have to be expensive.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength, Andrew has been featured in the Evening Standard, he writes a regular column for the London CityAM newsletter, and he contributes to the Rightmove.com blog. In addition APD Interiors also has its own blog providing regular interior design tips and ideas and Andrew provide daily twitter tips to his 8,000 followers.

Keeping an eye on comfort and practicality, while combining contemporary and traditional forms in projects, has seen APD Interiors win numerous commissions and praise from their clients. APD Interiors provides a design and build service to all its clients, aiming to take away all the headaches as they guide them from the design through planning to delivery. Current projects include a full house refurbishment in Islington, a glass box extension to a Grade II listed house in Central London and a budget bathroom in Crouch End. Each project offers different challenges but the objective remains to deliver cost effective design and build to all APD Interiors clients.
