Big Ass Fans, not for the faint hearted … a BlogTourNYC sponsor

The name says it all – Big Ass Fans are serious about ventilation! Today we are featuring them on our blog as they are one of the Blog Tour NYC sponsors.

Big Ass Fans has been making fans for over 30 years and they really understand the technology involved. The air foils on their fans are in effect big wings, they use aircraft technology to cool your environment very efficiently. We have all experienced an old-fashioned highly annoying ceiling fan rotating like crazy – maybe cooling the room but also killing any atmosphere. Big Ass Fans are known for their very quiet operation with a sound level under 40 dBa. Due to the technology they generally operate five times slower than traditional fans – but one Isis fan can do the work of nine standard fans.

Big Ass Fans have a range of fans for many uses including Industrial, Agricultural, Commercial and Residential. The biggest fan, the Powerfoil X has a span of 24 feet, that is over 7 metres wide! If you have an industrial facility that needs cooling this colossal fan would definitely kick the heat into touch.

For the residential market most home owners obviously require something smaller. If you have a larger home with high ceilings the Isis is a good choice. I love the style of the range, too many ceiling fans are still stuck in the last decade without a hint of contemporary design. The combination of aluminium motor housing and walnut air foils would be a perfect choice for today’s modern interior. Isis is available with an 8 ft, 9 ft and 10 ft span.

We aren’t all blessed with expansive interiors so Big Ass have recently launch the Haikufan, the smaller friend to the Isis. This fan has a width of just 5 ft but includes all the great engineering Big Ass Fans are known for. With a very quiet operation these fans bring the efficiency of the larger models accessible to home owners.

Big Ass Fans mean business, their name shows that and the quality of their fans proves that. Take a look at their website – you might just never look at a ceiling fan in the same way again!

After years working in the corporate world, Andrew Dunning left the City to follow his true passion of Design, so he retrained in interior design and launched APD Interiors in 2004. The brand was launched with one aim: to allow people to have their dream home for an affordable price as Andrew firmly believes that good design doesn’t have to be expensive.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength, Andrew has been featured in the Evening Standard, he writes a regular column for the London CityAM newsletter, and he contributes to the Rightmove.com blog. In addition APD Interiors also has its own blog providing regular interior design tips and ideas and Andrew provide daily twitter tips to his 8,000 followers.

Keeping an eye on comfort and practicality, while combining contemporary and traditional forms in projects, has seen APD Interiors win numerous commissions and praise from their clients. APD Interiors provides a design and build service to all its clients, aiming to take away all the headaches as they guide them from the design through planning to delivery. Current projects include a full house refurbishment in Islington, a glass box extension to a Grade II listed house in Central London and a budget bathroom in Crouch End. Each project offers different challenges but the objective remains to deliver cost effective design and build to all APD Interiors clients.

I can’t believe how fast the company has grown, it makes me
proud to be a Lexintonian, and even more proud to work for Big Ass Fans. I can
remember when it was only 20 people, and now they are up to 300. I hope that we continue to grow and show theworld that everyone needs a Big Ass Fan.
