There are times, when preparing our Before and after case studies for publication, that we suspect we may have our photos mixed up. Sometimes we aren’t sure what is before and what is after – we tend to spare you those. On this occasion we found it hard to believe that the pictures were of the same project – a most efficacious kitchen redesign by Homesmiths. Close examination of the images that follow show how Jacqui and her team transformed a gallery kitchen, dinning room and somewhat unloved conservatory into an open plan space where the family of four, five if you include the dog, and we do, can cook, eat, entertain and enjoy the wonderful view of the West Sussex countryside. The one thing you can’t make out in our before picture is the old kitchen. You need to click ‘continue’ for that. And believe us – it is worth it.
This is the old kitchen and it is hard to know what to say except, maybe, our sincere admiration to anyone who was able to create within its confines. And we’re guessing that cooking was never team work.
Homesmiths took out the internal walls, devoted the old kitchen area and dining room to the new kitchen and rebuilt the conservatory with large bi-fold doors as the dedicated dining area. The clients love greens and creams so they specified Arena stone Verdi Olivio tops, Howdens Burford cream cabinets with Dulux Twisted Bamboo on the walls and Dulux Timeless for ceiling and paintwork.
So now, as you stand at the kitchen sink you gaze out at the beautiful English countryside rather than the wall that previously failed to distract you from the washing up. The families two girls, both under ten, indulge their passion for baking and guests have lots of places to perch while they chat and drink wine, while the very happy client cooks up something wonderful.
Never let it be said that clever interior design does not transform lives!
