Dwell on Design Trends: The Manufactured Home

It was hard to miss the environmentally savvy manufactured homes that acted as a centerpiece to the Dwell on Design show in L.A.  Blu Homes offered their comfortable Blu Oasis for the crowds to rest and become familiar and educated with their designs. Blu Homes discussed the process of their green manufactured models in their use of recycled materials, strong bamboo flooring, and Energy Star appliances. The company focuses on recycling all unused products during manufacturing and concerns itself with all aspects of green design, including the environment of the site in relationship to the homes. Blu Homes delivered a stunning presentation of eco-friendly, beautiful manufactured homes with high energy ratings.

Sett Studio also exhibited an alternative manufactured space, a studio. A great way to make an addition to your home without major permit requirements or exorbitant construction cost and stress.  Sett Studio offers a unique modern studio space that can be used as an office, guest room, poolside cabana or any other stylish space you would like to add to your current abode.  The studio is both stylish and eco-friendly using green materials and a new innovative surfacing material, Monotread, exclusively by Sett Studio. Monotread is a sustainable surface material that is long-lasting. The studio design is simple, green, space-providing and modernistic. We think it’s simply fun.

Living Homes displayed one of the most eye-catching manufactured homes on the floor of Dwell on Design. This C6 model is beautiful, spacious and of course, green. Living Homes builds all C6 models and their homes with LEED and Z6 certification, programs that offer the specifications and guide for a top notch effective green home. The C6 model homes come in different variations.

Living Homes recently worked with architect William McDonough from Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation to build 150 of the C6 series homes in the lower 9th Ward of Louisiana, the area hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. Modenus and bloggers from all over the nation  had the opportunity of touring the energy efficient homes in the 9th ward during the recent Blogtour NOLA. The C6 homes were extremely modern in style, ample in space and innovative in respects to the environment. The homes were extremely affordable to victims of Hurricane Katrina and provided hope to rebuild a good, clean home.

Blu Homes, Sett Studio and Living Homes were just a few great examples of trending manufactured homes and studios at Dwell on Design. We love the modern style, products and materials in tune with the environment, and progression towards affordable homes that benefit both the home-owner and our precious mother earth.
