    6. Fold

      Product

      Fold

      Established and Sons

The process of folding sheet steel to achieve three dimensional structure earned the series of Fold lights their name. The T1 (smallest) Fold light is manufactured from just a single sheet of steel, folded several times, with no need for additional fixings. The resulting silhouetted form of the Fold is representative of the basic outline of a traditional light, a reference that is furthered by the addition of a classic braided fabric cable. These nostalgic references to traditional lighting are made all the more potent by the comparatively modern materials and construction techniques applied in the manufacture of the lights. The Fold light is available as a table light in two sizes and matching floor light. Best in Lighting, Elle Decoration International Design Awards, 2005 Permanent Design Collection, MOMA, New York Permanent Collection, Chicago Museum of Modern Art and Design

    1. Project

      Robin Rigby Fisher

The inspiration for this project was grandiose, the library at Trinity College in Scotland. Our client worked on their Phd in this library. The challenge was to incorporate the feel and magnificence of the library into a modest cottage was impressive at best. The space we transformed is only 264 sq ft with 8' ceilings! We started by removing a window that had neither a view nor added to the natural lighting of the room. This wall became the main wall for books. The opposite wall features Corinthian columns, arched opening from the library to the living room and an entry builtin complete with a charging station for all their electronics! For furnishings, we had to accommodate both partners, he is 6'4" and she is 5'1". Custom furniture was designed to incorporate the client's love of colour (wine sofa, teal green ottoman, orange walls, and the new "antique" chair which brought all the colours together) and their divergent heights. The layout of the space works well for both of them to watch tv and behind the sofa is enough space for one of the owners (who is a professional writer) to use as a writing/research desk. During one of our earlier meetings with the cabinet maker and custom finisher, the cabinet maker suggested that the arched openings be made from slats of wood instead of plywood (plywood would not have been available in the 1700's), and that the finish would be done to replicate the use of tallow candles, which would result in the finish being darker near the ceiling. We incorporated custom-manufactured Volute scrolls, reused antiqued leaded glass doors in the media center, imported custom metal-grid work from England and Edgar Berebi Decorative Hardware. Project

      Reclaimed Doors

      House of Funk

What was once architectural salvage, turned into the most charming set of doors to conceal a laundry room in our client's kitchen. Form & Function!

    3. Lakeside Timber Charmer

      Project

      Lakeside Timber Charmer

      Kevin Gray Interiors

The loft landing is the central circulation area on the second floor, allowing areas to site and look down at other areas of the house and to the views beyond. We accommodated a library area, space for clavinova, and upholstered sitting area. Paint colors were kept light neutrals with a lot of attention given to design of the concealed uplighting which highlights the timber structure and vaulted ceiling
